Well, I for one hope that Mike can sell all of the Omni VII+ radios that
he can make.
I operated the Omni VII and the Eagle some years ago, at the old Ten Tec
Factory Station.
I bought an Omni VII back during the RKR fire sale, and had some issues
with it. Those might have been addressed by the N4PY control software,
but I had not discovered that yet. So, I sold it at a very attractive
price to a new ham.
Then, I bought a used Argonaut V, and a used Eagle. I have become very
fond of that Eagle! I use the N4PY control software with both of them.
What I hope for is an Eagle+. I would be very happy to buy one of those.
I have owned a number of Japanese radios, and once they go out of
production, it is very hard to get them repaired.
Ten Tec can still fix most of their old radios, pending parts
availability. This is a very good selling point.
My Ten Tec grow and prosper!

It sounds like the new Owner of TEN-TEC is pricing himself right
out of the Amateur Radio market with this over priced Omni VII+.
This is just my opinion after personally knowing the former
Owner of TEN-TEC Jack Burchfield K4JU and past President of
TEN-TEC Jim Wharton NO4A.

Subject: [TenTec] Omni VII Plus at Hamvention!
TenTec video highlights the new owner of the company.
I really like his OMNI 7+ idea and as a CW operator would absolutely
love
to have one.
It would be an uphill climb competing against $1K IC7300, even though
the
basic operation on CW seems to be noticeably better. However with a
roughly $2800 price, comparison would be versus IC7610.
As an IC7300 owner, I would pay $1500 for a new OMNI VII+ and would
like a
2+ year no questions asked warranty.
I know - dream on!

A birdie told me that Mike is showing the new Omni VII Plus at
Hamvention.
Street price is $2999 according to rumor. Radio was said to be in
production.
That might be a bit high compared to imports, but it is probably a
fact of
life for manufacturing costs in the US.
I give Mike credit for making something happen, it is a start and I'd
love
to see an upgraded Orion offered one of these days.
