If memory serves me, Tom was discussing the ATR-15 a few months ago as
still in production. Why wasnt it reviewed for QST? I have always liked
that unit.
Carrying it a step further, adding some robust fixed C (Centralab 857
series maybe) to the ATR-15 variable caps, would permit a big improvement
in lowband efficiency. Thats if Im following Tom's comments correctly. Of
course the C would require switching if full range functionallity is
desired. A pair of $35 (typical surplus price for the RJ1A-26S) vacuum
relays would be up to the task.
