This posting comes from Jon, 3DA0CA. I'm just acting as his public
liaison, as he cannot receive high volumes of personal email.
Greetings. Its been a long winter, well, what we have experienced here in
Swaziland. Now its warm and with it comes the line noise. With the
prediction of no rain till November, I wonder how I will work the low
bands at all!
I will be going to Botswana from 13-25 Sept. and am thinking of taking the
TNC for any who need RTTY. Because of space restrictions I will operate
mostly on 20 and up. Look for me especially on 17, 12 and 10m meters.
I got 'big Bertha' up, my 160 antenna. I put a center support on it and
raised the apex by about a meter. More than that, it will take the strain
off the coax, and both legs and hopefully will stay up for a while. It
resonates right at 1830Khz so thats where I will hang out plus minus 2.
When I return I will start making a more serious effort on 160, mostly
between 1800z-2000z looking for those EU openings and perhaps JA
openings.
If a JA could kindly send a sunrise sked it would help me look for those
opeings too. Be advised that I may take the antenna down by Christmas and
since this is our last year in Swaziland (we leave July, 99) these may be
the last months for top band.
Any KH6 want to try some skeds?
