Topband: More on loop antennas

Has anyone tried or modeled a full wave loop where the bottom half of
it is the ground?  It would seem that you could take a half wavelength
of wire - go vertical about 50 feet, and then have 150 feet of it 
horizontal and get some rejection off the side and maybe a db of gain
over a single vertical (broadside).  

This would be a pretty easy antenna to install - if you have a good 
ground system on each end of it.  One end would be grounded - the other
would be fed against ground at some impedance around 100 Ohms or something.

Not sure what the high angle pattern would look like.
