To win the ARRL 160M Contest you must work lots of DX. There is no
exception to this.
The domestic QSOs in this contest are usually of a finite number. Look at
the difference in QSO rates between the beginning and end of the contest.
But the stations that score high are the ones that can work lots of DX for
the extra QSO points and extra multipliers. Take away the DX QSOs and you
can watch the winning scores immediately shift away from both coasts to the
midwest.
So it isn't just a domestic contest.
