I have found my 60 foot high 160 meter
inverted vee a pretty good receive
antenna; it always is better than the
vertical and often is competitive with
the beverages. I like to run dual receive
on the FT-1000D and listen to the inverted
vee in one ear and a beverage in the other.
That avoids missing stations in a beverage
null.

BTW, the inverted vee is useless on transit,
being several S-units down compared to the
vertical, at any distance.

I have also used an 80 meter inverted vee
for receive. It's about the same as the
160 meter inverted vee but the signals are
all attenuated 20 dB or so, as you would
expect.
