Barry,

It's generally a mistake to get into the habit of looking
for DX only at gray line.

Many times the strongest signals are not at either sunrise
or sunset, but someplace between those times. Also activity
is a key factor. You might want to plan based on what time
it is at the other end.

The real key is always being there when it is dark over the
path.
