Neil,
I had a full wave loop on 160m 1 winter from FN65 and once in a while it
made a good RX antenna...but honestly not too often.
IIRC, certain times when it was snowing hard (low noise) and a few times at
sunset...(high angle) but mine was pretty close to the ground as well, so
wasn't much of a transmitting antenna.........except maybe on 10m - HI !

Subject: Topband: Horizontal loop for rx
I'd be interested to hear the views of anyone who has experimented with a
full size (or reduced size) horizontal loop as a 160m RX Ant.I am mindful
the only time I could hear YC0LOW was on a dipole at 30ft, the
1st year I came to 160m. There was no signal on my so called "superior"
low
angle RX Antenna's at the time. I had to remove it due to RF issues as it
went too close to the TX Antenna. How often is the high angle horizontal
RX antenna the "winner" ... often enough to bother..or not?
Any comment appreciated.
