When Tony, Z24EA announced last night on 823.4 at about 2300Z he was
QRT....he meant it. Soon after he boarded a plane and is now back home
in Germany. Fernando, Z21BB told me today that the QRN last night was
deafening with thunder and lightning in all directions as it is their
rainy season. Fernando promise to keep trying for NA contacts if
conditions permit. I suggested to him that a simple terminated single
wire 400 to 500 foot BOG could perhaps enhance his chances of hearing
NA if he ran it WNW. He also agreed to try some CQ DX NA to cut down,
if only for a contact or two, on the wall of Europeans which are
essentially impenetrable for most of us in the West.
