It is a multiturn loop.

Also Gary offers some tips on how to model the K9AY loop with NEC2 /MININEC
ground so that the "model" will be closer to "actual".

 I let my NCJ subscription lapse, but I see on the latest cover
(March/April 2015) that there seems to be an update on the K9AY loop.
Either that, or Gary has come up with an entirely new and improved RX
antenna design.
 A photo of it using multiple wires on a frame, with the statement
"Eighteen years later, K9AY rethinks the receiving loop antenna":

 It's hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like a multi-turn loop! Is
this for real, or is this another one of the ARRL's April Fool articles?
Can anyone who has that issue shed some light on this?
