Gang,

Thin wall EMT (I have a little booklet with facts on figures on it that I
got years ago) is designed to
bend.   I would be afraid to use it for holding up anything!    I agree the
5 and 10' masts at Radio Shack (made by Channel Master) are weak..but they
are strengthened not to bend with a TV antenna at the top as long as you
don't stretch you luck.   I have three pieces of thin wall EMT
that bent in windstorms holding either TV antennas 5 ot 6' above the house
attachment or a 2 meter ringo ranger antenna at 4'.   I personally replaced
these with that RS stuff!...and they did not blow down in Opal.  

I don't know much about thick wall EMT so If K7LXC says it will support a R7
vertical then it will.
However, for a short mast for antennas up to a TH7 etc. 1 or 2' above the
tower I still recommend
sch 40 water pipe.   Above that you get into the fancy spread!
