Hi , being new to the bands and not knowing much about antennas I am looking
for some advice about locating a tri band vertical.
I have a 3 band vertical for 10-15 &20 mtrs,at the moment it is only 10ft
above the ground with 3 home-made wire ground -planes for each band from the
base of the antenna (top of the mast/base of antenna) which seems to work ok
at the moment.
I am taking down an old vertical I used to use for monitoring which is
located on a 10 ft mast on the chimney stack which is 30ft above ground and I
am considering replacing it with the tri-bander but I have been told that
going higher will not improve the rec/tx signal any more than if I leave it
at the height it is,as it would require guying the ground planes and a few
other fiddely jobs would it be worth the effort???
Any info would be appreciated. 73......Martin MW0ARV
