In addition to rf output, there's also a big difference among ballasts in
their sound output.  I had a workshop with 28 2-tube fixtures, and the
hum was distracting.  I noticed that some ballasts have a "sound rating"
on the label, and that the newer rf types are much quieter.  The '89
earthquake fixed the problem, and I now use halogens.
