So W4YV's account of lightning is good to read and re-read. If you think
you are protected with any lightning arrestor device-- made by any
company-- from a direct hit, you are just fooling yourself.
The only protection-- and with EMP, even this is not completely safe-- is
complete disconnection of all wires, including grounds and AC and phones
as well as antennas and rotors.
Don't let anyone talk you out of this most safe method with mumbo jumbo
about pills, gas arrestors, etc. Just will not protect the way
