Actually, I find the use of a synthetic line rather than rope to be
an advantage here. It will stretch slightly and you can seat the legs,
at least partially, thus taking the strain off the gin pole, and then
lower the gin pole slightly.
One warning, NEVER NEVER NEVER ( emphasis) climb onto a section which
has not been secured with at least one bolt in each leg. Don't stand on
it to seat it, don't jump up and down on it. In other words, stay off
that section under all circumstances until it's safe to do so.
