How many years would it take 4130 to break down due to rust. A couple
of persons mentioned lowering the mast in the tower. Good idea. I have
a Create 9' roof tower. Anyone have any suggestions to create a lower
rotor shelf? I have a Yaesu G-8000 SDX.

From what? Rust is oxidation and the oxidation is the
breakdown of the
metal through corrosion to it's original elements. The rust will
just get
deeper and deeper into the metal until it breaks it down
completely and your
antennas land on the ground. This does take a moderately long
period of time
        though.

        Cheers, Steve K7LXC
