Dear Friends,
First of all I wanted to thank the hundreds of you who wished me well =
during my two month stay in the hospital. Happy to report that I am =
home and working hard to rehabilitate this broken body. If I could find =
a way to grow nerves faster, I would.
Checked out the station last Friday when I got home and found a problem =
with high VSWR on the stack of C3's. With help, determined that the 1/2 =
inch hardline had become contaminated by water due to a poorly installed =
connector.\ (blush.)
Instead of replacing the connector, I decided to use a nice piece of =
1and 5/8 Heliax that had factory installed N connectors on it. Put the =
new Heliax in and all was well. =20
Was again surprised at the increase in VSWR, but that was good as even =
200' of 1/2" had enough loss to "flatten" the line a little. The point =
is that if you replace coax with a hard line that has significantly =
lower loss, you will expect to see an increase in indicated VSWR unless =
you have your meter in a very special place along the length of the =
line.
73,
Natan W6XR
