I've also done the same thing using one pane of the 2 in a basement casement
window. I have also glued and sandwiched styrofoam btwn the aluminum panel
and a treated piece of thin plywood. The plywood protects the styrofoam,
which insulates the aluminum from the outside temperatures. I did this as I
found out in a short while that condensation would collect on the inside of
the alum. panel and get into the connectors. Works great!
