Thanks for the replies. I should have mentioned that these will be
monoband antennas, with the 450 Ohm ladder line connected to a balun at
the 52 Ohm point, then coax running to the shack. No tuner in line. I
kind of thought that the ARRL was off base, considering that the formula
for a dipole is adjusted for end effect and VF, compared to an actual
1/2 wave dimension. For now, I'll go with leg lengths of 600/f or
598.5/f and ladder length of 135/f +/- resonance. Will let you know how
it works out.
