Hi Gang;
I have never attempted to install an elevated guy. Tower is getting
ready to put up and one of the guys needs to cross over my driveway, so
it has to be elevated. This is my week to work out all the guying
problems. I need to be tutored in the generalities of elevated guying.
I think I know what to do but having never examined an elevated guying
system, I do not know the details. I can back-yard rig anything needed.
Have welders, heavy eq etc needed.
Can somebody, take a minute or two and tell me what I need to do to put
in one elevated guy. The other two are ok in the gnd directly. The
tower is 55', 12 inches across each side and guyed at 35' and the top.
Antenna is a th5dx (old). Top section holds rotor on plate 4' dwn from
top where a plate is fixed holding a thrust bearing. Shaft is 2 inch
thick-wall and ant is mounted 3' above bearing with 3 feet unused mast
above the ant. Location is NW FL; sandy semi-clay soil (like red
Georgia dirt), not hard to dig in...took me just 2 hrs to dig hole for
base; 3' x 3' x 4.5' deep.
So...just tell me what I need to get the guy over the driveway. How do
u elevate the guy? I have access to some short poles, but anything else
will do as well. Just describe enuf fer a mental picture and i can fill
in the rest by WV engineering. I need to know thing like tilt of
elevated structure, how deep in the gnd., think I can fill in the rest.
Tnx in advance fer any help. I don't want to overkill either. Just
safe.
