Hi Bud,
The Cushcraft D3W aluminum dipole with traps is a GREAT
way to provide the WARC bands. It can be stacked above
your tribander or mounted on a tower leg.
BTW, the Cushcraft 2L40 works well on 17M as a rotary dipole
with <2:1 SWR. It can be used on 12M with a tuner.
An 80M dipole, tuned for 3.6 MHz provides a GOOD match
on ALL of the WARC bands (<3:1 on 30M, <2:1 on 17 and 12M)
with 4 main lobes, approximately 30 degrees from the wire,
assuming the wire is straight (not inverted vee). Lower SWR
can be attained when fed with 75 Ohm cable.
A 20M dipole, fed with ladderline, provides a Figure 8 pattern
on 10 through 30 Meters, with approximately 50 degrees
pattern width on 10M to 90 degrees pattern width on 30M.
GREAT ANTENNA ! Use a MOSLEY driven element support
with insulators and you can side mount it or rotate on a mast.
Did you read the posts on painting your antennas for protection
against salt spray when near the ocean?
