Yep. Here's the real story. The tower contractor, Andy Figey (SP?), from
California was hired to install the 300' tower for $24,000, materials and
installation. The contract called for a minimum crew of 5 persons. The
contractor showed up with 2, himself and the crane operator. Everything was
going fine until they connected the crane to a fiberglass insulator in order
to lift the top 150.' Just too much weight...the insulator snapped, the
hoisted 150' fell on the guys, and it was all over.
Poor planning, and trying to save money by using 2 workers instead of 5 cost
this guy his life.
