There is an upcoming C51XR with a 40M section, but I know no details beyond
that. I have not heard of anyone loading the C31XL boom. The C4XL has a
broader front end (more cardiod like) than the Wilson and less front to
back, but a smoother pattern with fewer strange side lobes (I have only
used one Wilson, this pattern stuff may have been unique to that
installation). For contesting this can be a plus, for DX, maybe, maybe
not.
You will not see any fall off compared to the Wilson on 20-15-10, and the
40M section of the C4XL is roughly equivalent to a Cushcraft 2 el shorty
forty. I can say it performs much better on 40 than the Wilson. I don't
think you will be unhappy.

Subject: [TowerTalk] C4XL vs. TH-6 (Wilson SYS-36)
Hi all....Have checked the archives and found little.....purchased the
tribander comparison......but still feel a little hesitant abt going from
the Wilson Sys-36 (TH-6) to the C4XL.....Wud really like to see the C31xr
with 2 el on 40m.......
Anyone out there replace a TH6 with the C4XL or the C31xr give some more
input besides what I have found so far? I am currently using a Wilson
Sys-36 @ 95' and a TH6 @ 60' (fixed),the antennas are nearly
identical....Can I load the boom of the C31xr like I have my Wilson. ie
N4KG
????
Just not sure if my gain will be good $$$ spent going to a new
antenna......
Any input will be deeply appreciated....
