I will have a need to replace the rotator in my 45G tower and am
wondering if anyone makes/sells a clamp or other kind of gizmo that
can be put on after the fact (i.e., now that the antenna is already
constructed) that would provide a secondary lateral support for the
mast near the (to be removed) rotator. In my case the rotator is
about 8' below the thrust bearing, and when I would remove the rotator
there is nothing else to keep the stack above the TB from toppling
over (save for a rope attached up the mast and held under tension,
which is now I did this last time). I'm sure I could make such a thing
but I don't want to spend limited time resources that way and would
prefer to find something already made (the mast, 2" and tower size,
45G, are so common that I hope there is a commercial product sold that
can be used for this purpose). As the new rotator may locate the mast
above/below it's current placement, I am thinking that something
which can be put in place then tightened as needed (or loosened
as needed) would do the trick.
