Just to show that I am not biased against quads - quite the contrary.
I like to participate in RF foxhunts with the local club on VHF frequencies.
All the leading hunters are convinced that the quads have it all over the
yagis when it comes to collecting the initial bearings on the fox. We are
all using an electrical plan very similar to the one I have posted at:

The front-to-back and front-to-side ratios of this 4 element plan are
terrific. I have had a LOT of fun with this, and I also have a scaled-down,
1/3 size quad for hunting the 3rd harmonic signal when I get closer to the
fox. Great fun!
I'd love to try one scaled up to 10m some day.
