We've got a 50 ft Universal aluminum tower here with 18" sections. It's
guyed at the top and mid-way. Trying to tip just 30' of that tower up by
yourself is darn tough. Tipping up 60' with a rotor and an antenna
attached to the end will be impossible for just 2 or 3 people.
Alone, I've put up and taken down the tower 3 times since Sept. '98.
It's strong and each 10' section is very light. After putting the tower
up we trammed the Cushcraft X7 up and bolted it into place.
Really like that Univeral tower. Did learn that a generous application
of vaseline sure makes the sections slide together real easy. I'm 190
lbs. and found that keeping my feet away from the center of the cross
bracing is a smart thing to do. Also found my old combat boots with the
steel shanks are the best for climbing and working on the tower.
