The local power utility just notified me that they intend to "upgrade" a
line running 1/4 mile from the QTH to 115kV. They describe 65' wooden poles
with 52" insulators (much bigger than existing insulators) held horizontal
from the pole with 8' spacing.
A public hearing is being held on 8/27 to allow the public to address
"concerns" to a representative of the utility.
1) Do I care?
2) Are 52" insulators adequate?
3) Are there issues that I should address to the "representative?"
4) How can I learn more about this to find out if it is properly engineered?
The existing 69kV line is very noisy when you drive under or along the line
(on an AM radio). I have power line issues on low bands now. I don't want
them to get worse!
Thanks for the help.
