I characterized a bunch of speaker cable. It
seems to run between 100 and 200 ohms. Never
seems to get down to 75 ohms. I am using some
150 ohm speaker cable in my 50 ohm to 450 ohm
balanced to balanced transformers. It takes
1500 watts without burning out.
Also, the ubiquitous rainbow colored ribbon cable
is very close to 150 ohms. You can split off
four conductors of this and parallel two pairs
to get a nice 75 ohm line. Not for QRO though.
I use the rainbow cable to make my beverage
matching transformers. Four wires are used:
one wire is the secondary and the other three
are wired in series as the primary. The 150
ohms Zo makes the bandwidth very wide.
