K1VR:  I wouldn't trust it. At the time it was common for such posts to
be 10' up, four feet down, with a concrete pad that is only a few inches
deep (perhaps 3-4" at most). If the soil is sandy (it's an island), I'd
prefer to break up the pad with a sledge hammer and dig out the pole. In
any event, it is standing straight up, with most of the concrete above
ground. What's resisting? Will it pull out?
