That's a pretty common problem, regardless of what shields who, when and
why... power transformers in amps kick up alot of magnetism. Just think
of the Astron power supplies, when you turn them on the 12V transformer
sucks the top of the case down (KERTHUNK!!). Some astrons will actually
jump around as the top buckles, springs back, buckles, and so on.
My CABLE MODEM, with no supply inside, tugs the convergence off on the side
of the monitor it sits on. At least your magnetic interference isn't so
bad as to pull your convergence off and give you all sorts of pretty rainbows.
The only way to cure this is to move the monitor out of the way, or the
amp... You may try a piece of sheet steel, that might cut it down some,
but spacing is always good.
