just got through attaching my 2" OD thick wall aluminum mast to my
tailtwister. noticed that the mast did not seat all the way into V of the
bell housing. spent a few minutes looking at the situation and decided that
the bell housing is made for slightly smaller OD tubing. took a look at the
manual and noticed that they call for 1.5" ID/1.9" OD steel pipe. also
noticed that the current advertising calls for 2 1/16" OD tubing. should be
noted that the rotor is vintage 1995 or so.
now the question is: what to do about this? hate the idea of buying a new
mast and hate the idea of buying a new rotator even more. one thought is to
file the shoulders of the housing away a bit so that the tube can seat
against the V of the housing. not sure what either the current situation or
a modified housing would do with respect to centering the mast/rotor below
the thrust bearing.
suggestions are welcome.
