FWIW, I use a compound made by the LUBRIPLATE com-
pany, called "#110 Brake-Lube." It is a white grease that was
formulated to lubricate the backing plates, where the brake
shoes (the drum-type) contact the backing plate on vehicles.
I use it on all stainless steel hardware, as well as on the all-
stainless hose clamps. No more galling with this stuff!
Check with an auto parts supplier. It is a very common item.
