I just went and looked at how to unsubscribe.

It is not at all intuitive. One has to read, and comprehend, the fine
print. The current setup is NOT user friendly.

Mostly people will get it or go searching for the email, but I'd have
to guarantee that you WILL have a parade of that last 5% for which
some interpretation of a sentence on the listinfo page defeats their
attempt.

What is needed is a clickable url on the bottom banner like:

  Unsubscribe:
http//lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/towertalk/unsub

When they go there, the ONLY thing that is talked about is unsubscribe
and some instructions on what to do in some of the tricky situations:

Lost your password?, Using a new ISP?, etc.

Even then, some will not see it because it's at the bottom and off the
screen. But at least anyone can tell them to click the unsub address
at the bottom and follow instructions.

For some folks ALL computer stuff is counter-intuitive. I've met some
number. These are decent, hard-working, intelligent folks, good
citizens, law-abiding taxpayers, community assets, that you'd love to
have as a neighbor or co-worker. They are NOT all senile, not all
mean, not all careless, not all stupid, not all xxxxxx. Taking on
email is a leap for them.

Have to remember that homo sapiens went a long time without benefit
(?) of computers to guide evolution.

73, y'all
Guy
