If you get the Yagi at 1/2 wl or more it will beat the heck
out of the 4SQ, even a dipole at 1/2 wl will beat the 4SQ
with about 2 dB.
I have a 4SQ (about 160 radials) and a 3 el Yagi at 90 ft ,
yagi is always 10 dB or more better.
If you look in EZNEC a 4SQ will give around 5 dBi, lets say
you have 4 dBi after you subtract losses in the near field. My
3 el Yagi gives 12.6 in EZNEC so that gives 8.6 in favour of
the Yagi, real life says 10 dB or more but thats with QSB
and a non calibrated s-meter.
Think a 40CD-2 gives about 10 dBi so I would say the small
40 Yagi would take the 4SQ by 6 dB atleast.
