I mount an SO-239 in a small plastic box purchased from Radio Shack. I
also mount two stainless steel 1/4-20 bolts as ears. I can now use a
PL-259 and not worry about weather proofing. I put toroids on the coax
just before the PL-259.
I secure the plastic box to the boom just like a Hy-Gain BN-86, and I now
have a mechanically secure situation.
