With all due respect, several posters, all with lots of tower climbing
expereince, do not feel too comfortable climbing the flexy-aluminum towers.
They choose not to get rid of them because maybe they bought them second hand
or maybe they can't afford to get another tower. Or maybe, the owners of the
self-supporting aluminum tower chose to put the guys on it because the
manufacturer said there was no problem to put some guys on it....which is
what Heights Aluminum Towers recommended in the 70's and 80's.
Several people in private correspondence have said they have no problems
going 200 feet on guyed tower but feel uncomfortable at 60 or 70 feet on an
unguyed aluminum tower. I suppose the two owners of the two superstations
need to get out of the hobby according to you.
