Back in the old days when I was living on a city lot of 60 by 120 I wanted to
have a killer signal of 80. I lived adjacent to an old orange grove. So
from my 120 foot tower I strung the ends of a dipole made with fairly light
wire
outward with nylon fishing line. From far away it looked as though the ends
were 'floating'.
The ends of course were not floating. They were attached to my neighbor's
deserted groves' trees with high strength nylon line several hundred feet away
from my tower. About once a year, usually after a heavy windstorm I would have
to retie them. Of course in the dark of night or when the neighbor wasn't
around. And the neightbor, he never did figure out that I was borrowing his
trees.
