Hi Jerry,
OK on ur comment.
I live on Vancouver Island, and the prominent 
tree is cedar. They are girthed close to ground, and 
are amongst other trees, so the trees are well 
protected. No oaks in yard.
Inspector did say that if any trees were removed 
in close proximity to guy trees, then a buried guy 
point must be installed.
I know what u mean about cedars,i've seen 80 ft
trees, toppled over, and the root system, only being
2 to 4 ft deep. that's scary.
The cedars i'm using are just in the right spot, i 
didn't want to remove them, to bury guy points.
