At time's I'd tend to think that Jim Smith's response might be appropriate,
but as long as you have a speaking relationship with the individual, I think
I'd take the honey approach while letting her know what your rights and hers
are in the matter.
Let her know that she can contact the manufacturer of the equipment to get
assistance with resolving the engineering inadequacy that allows it to
receive signals that it's not supposed to. The other alternative is to allow
you to help her do the same.
If she refuses either option, I would tell her that you have done what you
can to help her resolve HER problem. If it gets to that point, I'd let her
know that if she continues calling to complain about your doing something
that is your legal right, you will take legal action to stop her harassment.
Back in the dark ages when the FCC still sent engineers to the field to
investigate such situations, I had an experience with an obstinate woman. To
make a long story short, the engineer told her that they checked my
equipment and it was working within required parameters. On the other hand,
she had reported that she had a new color TV and new antenna on the roof.
Turns out she was using an old black and white with a 21mhz IF and rabbit
ears. Within two months she moved.
