Go with the grinder - although a big bolt cutter works well, too...

The local flea market vendor who has the Asian import stuff sells side grinders for 9.99 - and a disk is another buck -= just burned out one of those after three years of occasional usage for ham applications... i.e. for about 4 dollars a year I ground through whatever needed grinding... great for cutting guy wire - or - my favorite: cutting through rusted out u-bolts - its a zip - make sure you wear protective eye wear - and if you really want to have fun - use it outside after sunset for the "fireworks" show of hot metal chips shooting off as they are ground away....

My new side grinder - think its Chinese - gets christened tomorrow...

A good sharp cold chisel and an anvil works great too. Just be sure to watch
the ends when they let go.....

In place of an anvil, use the side of a large sledge hammer/ mall. Haveing a
short piece of railroad rail is just the ticket!

73 and good luck!

A truly naive question:

I am installing a safety line on my AN Wireless self supporting tower and
it just occurred to me that I have no idea how to cut this 3/8" galvanized
steel "aircraft cable". It needs to be a fairly clean cut. It is at the
base and electrical power is available.

First time in my career I have played with this stuff. My wife outlawed
guy wires when we got married!
