So I filled out their online information request

and, guess what... they called me back.... My voicemail box had a long
message answering my questions about using Phillystran with their towers, if
we can pick them up at the factory, when their self supporting towers will
be available, what to do about lighting over 200 feet, if the tower will
explode when hit by lightning, and what they thought about using their
towers for HF antennas.... it seems they will sell these to anybody with
money, she didn't seem concerned that I'm not a business, just some crazy
ham
This system strikes me as being a very cool idea. Since you can't climb
it, I can't get killed when you fall on me, or drop a wrench on my head. The
whole tower tilts down to work on, so I can inspect all the work, and
complain about it right away. It goes together with hand tools, and the
winch on my pickup is good enough to lift it. They claim their 107 foot
version will take 14.6 square feet of antenna with ice and 110 mph wind.
They also claim you can put 500 pounds at the top..... and, serving beer at
the tower party is a more viable option.
The installation instructions are available on line, it's a very
entertaining read.
I'll contact them again, by e-mail, and ask if they have any customers
near me, and go look at the installation, otherwise, it looks like road trip
time.
Has anybody ever seen any of their product? I'd hate to drive all the
way to Brigham City, Utah, just to find out there is some big reason to not
use this stuff. I wonder if they'll still be nice to me when they figure out
I'm not Mormon.
