Doug,
Aluminum and concrete react with each other highly ... you will find that corrosive destruction will occur over a period of time.
I suggest you get a couple of stainless steel U-beams [channel] to put in the concrete, and use that for the base of your 'fold-over' flagpole.

Hi,
I'm homebrewing a foldover aluminum flagpole to hold one end of a dipole. I
would like to build the tilt base out of aluminum also, and anchor it in
concrete.

I'm wondering if there is any reason not to bury the aluminum in the
concrete. We do it all the time with galvanized and raw steel (rebar), but
do aluminum and concrete live well together?

Thanks, K3QS
