I have used 1/4 EHS for years, simply because it was available. It works
well but is heavy. If I had a piece of 3/16 I would use that instead. I
tried
using thin wire rope...1/8 or something like that, but the pulley didn't
roll on it. Instead it slid and I wound up grinding a groove into the pulley
and almost got it stuck halfway up and down...never again. EHS forever.
