Thanks Phil and Larry! Your explanations make a lot of sense.
One additional question. Do they sell different power supplies for the
rotor (the 12 to 24 volts), or is that adjustable from the rotor control box
that you buy with the unit?

There is only model of AlfaSpid. The different specs are there and depend on
what voltage you feed to it. It'll take anywhere from 12 to 24 volts. The
more voltage, the faster it turns and the more torque is gives. Make sense?

I have a HyGain T2X that has been in operation for about 30 years.
All I have ever done to it is replace the "motor" control capacitor in the
shack mounted control box. For ten years it turned a HyGain TH-7 with a
Cushcraft A3WS ten feet above it. Haven't had a single problem with it.
For anyone who has an Alpha Spid, I have a question. I went to
their website and looked at their specification chart. I noticed that there
are 3 different Alpha Spid ratings depending on the control voltage. I
didn't notice any different model numbers, so is the control voltage
selectable? If not, what are the differences in the three?
TIA.

Towertalkians......
I have a 60 foot 25G tower with a TH6DXX and a HAM III as a Rotor. I
actually have two HAM III rotors...one for a spare...but....
I am looking to do some tower work this spring and summer and wonder the
collective wisdom about getting a different rotor. These rotors are 20 to
25 years old...they have been rebuilt by Norms at least once...and I wonder
if I should go to a different rotor.
So, what do people like out there? T2X? Yaesu? Stay with what I got?
AlphSpid?
I can either have mine rebuilt again or go with a T2X that is used....
I will be getting a new beam but I am not sure what yet....could be a
SteppIR 3-element, a C4, or an OPTI-Beam.
So, what do you all think based on your experience....
