I had the same problem with my HAM IV/T2X. Solved it by grounding the case of
the controller to the station ground. even though everything should have been
grounded (ac wise) through the power cord grounds, there was still a potential
difference that resulted in a strong hum with the brake released. no problem
and hum free since I grounded it.
