If you're going to be installing many coax connectors, getting one of the
little spin and cut tools (they're basically a bunch of little razor blades
in a plastic holder with adjustments) is well worth it. Perfect trims every
time, once you get it dialed in. For popular connectors (i.e. BNC or F on
RG-58/RG-59/RG-6 kinds of coax) you can get even cheaper ones that are
non-adjustable.
I got my adjustable one from Paladin 15 years ago, but it was a bit pricey,
because it had removable "cassettes" that held all the blades, so you could
quickly swap blade configurations.
You used to be able to get RG-58/BNC ones for installing coax ethernet
(Thinnet,10Base2) for about $10, but the blades would be dull after a
hundred or so connectors.
