Thank you everyone for the nice responses. I certainly am checking into all
suggestions. If I might bore everyone a little here is where I am coming from:
I recently finished a 92' Rohn 45-G. Over the last few years I have picked up 2
antennas that I planned to install :
HyGain TH7-DXX { an older one, about 6 years old, NIB} ------ right
above tower neck
Cushcraft A3-WS and A-103 30 meter add on kit { all NIB} ------- 8'
above TH7
My goal is to have reasonable performance on 20, 17, 15, 12, and 10
meters. My work schedule is terrible and I get caught on long stretches where I
have little time off. I am behind on my antenna work and have been off the air
way too long.
After some wrestling around with what to put on the tower { as I wanted to put
up a couple of VHF yagis above HF antennas} I have started to shy away from
putting up the TH-7DXX. I do most of my tower work alone. When I read about the
Force 12 XR-5 I became excited, as it contains a full sized 2 ele. yagi for
each of 5 bands. The XR-5 should do *almost* what the TH7 / A3WS combo would
do, and better on 30 meters. From what I see the XR-5 is smaller and lighter
than TH7 and possibly would fit my needs.
I read some of the product reviews on E-Ham, one really was negative and
was the most recent. Anyone have any insight into this? After all, the XR-5 is
an expensive antenna.
Thanks all, Byron WA5THJ.
