OOPS, I take that back. The 1000 user's manual DOES show a "pole mount"
option, and it does use the GC-038 mast clamp.

Sorry for the confusion.

The GC-038 mast clamp is shared by numerous Yaesu rotors including the 800,
the 1000 and the 5400 series (AZ/EL rotors). On the 5400 series at least,
it is the same clamp on the top and the bottom. The 1000 user's manual
doesn't show a bottom clamp option, just shows the rotor mounted to a rotor
shelf, but based on the 84mm hole spacing I would bet that if there is an
option of mounting the rotor with the mast top and bottom you would use the
same part. The hole spacing on the GC-038 mast clamp is also 84mm.

I am sitting here looking at my new 800 Yaesu rotator and all 4 parts, 2
clamps for the upper and 2 clamps for the lower that I have all have the
same appearance and even the same identical part number on them.
PC-8601-040.
So if the 1000 follows the same convention you are able to swap the tops and
the bottoms. Would be interesting to know if they share the same parts
between 800 and 1000.
