Interesting thread.  Sadly, no stacks to hide under here & have on
a number of occasions pulled some pretty big arcs off of the feeders
to antennas on sunny, cloudless but only slightly windy days.

K4SAV/m's observations are interesting - is it due to driving into
stuff in the air, or is anything being built up from rolling along the
road, or some of both?

Lorries carrying dangerous goods here (like petrol) have grounding
chains & although they spark as they strike the road surface &
often are not in contact with the road surface as they bounce
about, VS6EK (ex-XU8LD, later VK4EKK, now SK) had a story or
two to tell about Shell's experience before adding the chains.

Other than a few short patches of very dry weather, humidity here
is very high, yet many folks still add grounding straps to private
cars.  I wonder if the same thing might help mobile installations
deal with whatever mechanism(s) that are causing the noise?
