I really do not understand all the chatter about using white Vaseline
(PETROLEUM JELLY), which is used for "Removing eye makeup, chapped lips and
soothing dry skin".
Also, Petroleum jelly is a semi-solid mixture of hydrocarbons, having a
melting-point usually ranging from a little below to a few degrees above
100° F (37° C). It is colorless, or of a pale yellow color, translucent, and
devoid of taste and smell. It does oxidize on exposure to the air, and is
not readily acted on by chemical reagents. It is insoluble in water. It is
soluble in chloroform, benzene, carbon disulfide and oil of turpentine. It
also dissolves in hot alcohol, but separates in flakes on cooling.
So, why would you want to use something like this compound on antenna
elements when there are compounds that are designed for aluminum?
Just my two cents worth. . . .
